To look outside right now, it isn’t difficult to believe that spring and summer are just around the corner. It has clearly been an interesting winter this year with record-breaking warmer temperatures!

We all must look ahead and realize that heartworm season is quickly approaching. The period between April and June is when all veterinary clinics begin testing dogs and cats for heartworm disease.

Where does heartworm disease come from? Very simply, a bite from an infected mosquito.

Heartworm disease is a serious disease.

Your veterinarian can help your pet avoid this risk with a variety of products that are available. A good majority of these products will also reduce the risk of flea infestation and numerous other skin and internal parasitic problems.

Please note that the OVMA regulations require MANDATORY heartworm testing prior to the dispensing of any heartworm medication. No waiver forms will be accepted.

It is important for you and your pet to feel safe while enjoying the outdoors.

We will begin seeing appointments for heartworm testing beginning Saturday April 14, 2012.

Please book your pet’s heartworm test today! Let us help you get the best protection for your beloved four-legged family member.
